Overview
The Liberian community consists mainly of families that have been in the Pittsburgh area since the mid-seventies, and also consists of students attending the various universities and colleges in Southwestern PA. We have striven to become self-reliant in order to be able to assist Liberians in emergency situations.
For the past two years, we have had a large flow of Liberians into Pittsburgh. These newcomers are mainly Liberians who have been living in various refugee camps around the western parts of Africa. They have settled comfortably into Pittsburgh with the help of other local Liberians.
