[Go to Turk] Overview
Although a number of Turkish immigrants came to Pittsburgh before the 1950s, the community started to grow slowly in 1960s, and rapidly in the mid to late 1980s.
During the last 15 years, Turkish grocery stores, restaurants and craft shops have increased in number. Turkish immigrants came to Pittsburgh mainly as students or for business.
