[Go to Brazilians] Overview
We have left Brazil, but Brazil has not left us!
That is the attitude of the dynamic Brazilian community in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has an estimated Brazilian community of about 300-500 people.
Many are transient because they are here to obtain a graduate or undergraduate degree. Others are professionals who have made Pittsburgh their home, but are always eager to get involved in Brazilian events of all types. These include: Traditional Brazilian Carnaval organized by local residents and professional singer Kenia Ashby; and Brazilian Festival hosted at the University of Pittsburgh and coordinated by the staff and students from the Brazil Nuts Portuguese Club.

The Pittsburgh Brazilian Community have had the privilege to see live performances by 'Ivan Lins' at the Manchester Craftsman Guild; Grupo Corpo Dance Group in April of 2003 at Byham Theater; the Mosquitos in March of 2004 at Club Café; and in January of 2005 the dance company DanceBrazil performed at Byham Theater! Brazilian and World music can be heard each month at the AVA Lounge, (part of the Shadow Lounge) 6028 Penn Circle South, when Carla spins Global Beats. To find her next performance date, please visit www.arrepiabrasil.org.
Welcome! Bem-vindo! Saudacoes,

The Coalition also facilitates communication about the safety, efficacy, and use of vaccines within the broad immunization community of patients, parents, health care organizations, and government health agencies. Click here for language specific Vaccine Information Statements (VIS). VIS are information sheets produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that explain to vaccine recipients, their parents, or their legal representatives both the benefits and risks of a vaccine.
