GlobalPittsburgh Relies on Your Support
To Serve Our Community & Grow Our Programs.
As the year draws to a close, you have the opportunity to make a sound investment in GlobalPittsburgh programs that connect our region with the world, bringing together globally-minded people and companies in ways that strengthen Pittsburgh's cultural and ethnic diversity, grow the economy, and make it a better place for everyone to live, work and study.
No other organization in Pittsburgh does what we do. Here are the programs that set us apart:
- Our International Leaders Program arranges targeted professional meetings for delegations of international leaders through an exclusive relationship with the U.S. Department of State.
- Our Study Pittsburgh Initiative helps attract and retain international students.
- Our CONNECT Membership Program connects globally-minded people in Pittsburgh and around the world through a series of activities and events.
- Our Homestay Program enables newly-arrived students and professionals to live with host families for an immersion experience that helps them to feel more welcome in our community.
GlobalPittsburgh provides value to the Pittsburgh region by forging international connections that provide economic, educational and professional benefits to local companies, institutions and people through:
Welcoming — We help welcome international newcomers to make them feel comfortable in the community;
Connecting — By setting up meetings with visiting international delegations, we create opportunities for business deals and consulting contracts;
Engaging — We arrange person-to-person meetings that increase international awareness in the local community;
Informing — Our database of international leaders we have hosted over the years could be valuable for those traveling or seeking new business abroad;
Stimulating the Economy — By welcoming visiting delegations and international students, GlobalPittsburgh programs make a significant financial impact on the region.
In 2014, GlobalPittsburgh programming infused approximately $250,000 into the local economy. We hosted 406 international leaders, arranged more than 5,000 homestay nights for students, researchers and professionals participating in training programs, arranged 831 hotel room nights in the region, and set up meetings with 220 professionals representing area institutions, companies and university departments.
