GlobalPittsburgh First Thursdays is a monthly night of networking and socializing where GlobalPittsburgh members and friends welcome State Department guests from abroad, international students and expatriates from all over the world. It's the easiest way to experience the world without leaving Pittsburgh

Come practice language skills, meet others working in the international realm, make new friends who share global interests, and learn firsthand about what is happening outside the U.S. For newcomers, it's a great way to connect with others from their country or with people from other countries who are sharing the same experience of being far from home. Everyone is welcome!

In July, GlobalPittsburgh has partnered with World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University in featuring a group of 25 Young African Fellows under President Obama's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). These 2016 Mandela Washington Fellows will attend Duquesne University for a six-week Academic and Leadership Institute in the area of Civic Leadership; the program will draw from the university's and the city of Pittsburgh's unique set of expertise and resources. The Fellows are from Angola (2); Botswana; Burkina Faso; Democratic Republic of Congo; Ethiopia; Gambia; Kenya; Liberia; Madagascar; Malawi; Mauritius; Mozambique; Nigeria (3); Senegal; Sierra Leone; South Africa; Sudan; Togo; Zambia; and Zimbabwe (3).
