GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation from Kazakhstan for the International Visitor Leadership Program focused on Air Cargo Security from March 31–April 4, 2026. The delegation brought together aviation security leaders and inspectors to explore U.S. approaches to cargo screening, airport security, logistics operations, technology, and public-private coordination.

Participants met with xBridge, the innovation hub of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, to learn how Pittsburgh International Airport tests and implements new technologies and processes designed to improve airport operations and security. The delegation also visited FedEx Express, where discussions focused on security practices within high-volume air cargo and logistics operations.

At Pittsburgh International Airport, delegates explored modern air cargo infrastructure, specialized handling of high-value and temperature-sensitive goods, and strategies for strengthening Pittsburgh’s role in international logistics. They also met with the McCandless Police K-9 Unit to learn about detection training, certification standards, and the use of K-9 teams in transportation and public safety environments.

The professional program concluded with a visit to Journey Robotics, where participants learned about automated baggage and cargo-handling technologies designed to improve efficiency and strengthen airport security. The visit provided delegates with perspectives from aviation, law enforcement, logistics, and technology leaders across the Pittsburgh region
