IVLP: Building Community Resilience – the Power of Cities

June 24-27, GlobalPittsburgh hosted an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) delegation of 10 cities' leaders from the Slovak Republic on the project "Building Community Resilience - the Power of Cities."

During their visit, the delegates enjoyed Open Streets PGH, the Gateway Clipper Fleet city tour, The Andy Warhol Museum, meetings with Dr. Kenneth Lockette of The Reimagined Classroom about school safety, Dr. Maureen Anderson of Gwen's Girls to discuss her work against violence, Dr. Lisa Nelson to learn about the work of the Collaboratory Against Hate: Research and Action Center, Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, Department of Public Safety of the City of Pittsburgh, and Laura Ellsworth of Jones Day, the co-Founder of the Eradicate Hate Summit.

We are so grateful to Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs, the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures, the Slovak Studies Program, the Center for Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies- REEES, and the Czechoslovak Nationality Room Committee at the University of Pittsburgh for a warm reception of our Global Intersector happy hour with the Slovak visitors on Monday evening.
