GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation from Poland for the International Visitor Leadership Program, focusing on community-based models for addressing mental health challenges. During their week in Pittsburgh, the group joined GlobalPittsburgh for a welcome session and a Pittsburgh history briefing before meeting with psychiatrist Kenneth Thompson and visiting the Squirrel Hill Health Center to learn about integrated behavioral health care. Their program continued with the Allegheny County Office of Behavioral Health, followed by lunch and site visits with Dr. Jim Withers at Mercy Hospital, the Second Avenue Commons homeless center, and Operation Safety Net. They also enjoyed home hospitality with local families, attended a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, and toured Fallingwater. The delegation participated in an in-depth workshop on strengthening community mental health through dialogue and integrated care, and concluded their professional meetings with a visit to resolve Crisis Services to explore crisis response models.
