GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation from Indonesia for the International Visitor Leadership Program focused on Driving Innovation Through Academic Partnerships from April 16–21, 2026. The delegation included leaders from government, higher education, research, and public health who explored how universities, research institutions, and innovation organizations collaborate to advance science, technology, entrepreneurship, and international partnerships.
Participants visited UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the Immunologic Monitoring and Cellular Products Laboratory to learn about cancer research, clinical innovation, biomarker analysis, and the development of cellular therapies. At the University of Pittsburgh, delegates met with the University Center for International Studies, Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Asian Studies Center to discuss global partnerships, research commercialization, academic collaboration, and international education.
The delegation also met with Idea Foundry and Idea Foundry Ventures to explore entrepreneurship, prototyping, startup development, and the role of innovation ecosystems in bringing research and new ideas to market.
Beyond the professional program, participants toured the University of Pittsburgh’s Nationality Rooms, attended a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, explored the city, and joined a GlobalPittsburgh host family for home hospitality. The program combined professional exchange with cultural experiences designed to strengthen relationships between Indonesian and Pittsburgh institutions.
