
GlobalPittsburgh was honored to host a delegation from Belarus for a multi-day exchange focused on economic prosperity, artificial intelligence, and technology entrepreneurship. During their stay in Pittsburgh, participants received a program welcome and city overview before spending a full day with Idea Foundry to explore hybrid nonprofit–investment models and regional approaches to early-stage venture development. The delegation also met with the Center for Machine Learning and Health at Carnegie Mellon University to discuss interdisciplinary AI research advancing digital health, followed by a series of meetings highlighting Pittsburgh’s innovation ecosystem. These included a visit to LifeX Labs to learn about startup support in the life sciences sector and a session at Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship and Project Olympus to examine pathways for transitioning AI-driven academic research into viable startups. The program also featured cultural engagement through a home hospitality dinner with a local host family. The project concluded with the group’s departure following hotel checkout. This exchange was part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by Meridian International Center with local programming by GlobalPittsburgh.
