GlobalPittsburgh hosted a multi-regional delegation for the International Visitor Leadership Program focused on Freedom 250: U.S. Science and Technology Entrepreneurship from July 1–7, 2026. The group brought together technology, investment, and innovation leaders from Bolivia, Morocco, Nigeria, the Palestinian Territories, and Sri Lanka to explore how U.S. entrepreneurship ecosystems support science, technology, commercialization, and economic growth.
Participants met with Idea Foundry and Idea Foundry Ventures to learn about startup acceleration, technology transfer, market entry, and venture development. At the Pittsburgh Innovation District, delegates explored how universities, industry, civic organizations, and entrepreneurs work together to build a connected innovation ecosystem and strengthen university-industry partnerships.
The delegation also visited Innovation Works and Riverfront Ventures to examine early-stage investment, mentorship, and access to capital for technology companies. A meeting with Dentons’ Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies Group highlighted legal and business strategies supporting company formation, financing, intellectual property, and technology commercialization. The program also included discussion of mission-driven financing and support for small businesses through Bridgeway Capital.
Beyond the professional program, delegates experienced Pittsburgh during the Fourth of July weekend, including home hospitality at an Independence Day block party and opportunities to explore the city’s museums, riverfronts, cultural attractions, and community celebrations. The exchange combined entrepreneurship and innovation programming with cultural experiences marking the United States’ 250th anniversary.
