GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation from Pakistan for the International Visitor Leadership Program, focusing on integrated energy planning for the power and petroleum sectors. The program began in Harrisburg, where participants met with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Deputy Chief of Staff for energy and environmental issues in the Governor’s Office. They then traveled to Pittsburgh, where they engaged with Carnegie Mellon University’s Critical Technology Initiative, CMU faculty on electricity market design, and the Energy Innovation Center to explore workforce development, energy innovation, and public-private partnerships. The delegation also met with the Energy GRID Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, SeaLion Energy, and the City of Pittsburgh to examine smart city initiatives, energy strategy, and sustainable urban solutions. Throughout the week, participants enjoyed home hospitality with local families, explored the city’s history, and concluded their program with professional insights from Michael Matesic, President and CEO of Idea Foundry.
