GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation from Honduras for the International Visitor Leadership Program focused on Resetting Honduras’ Energy Sector through U.S. Partnership from August 5–8, 2026. The delegation included senior government officials, energy regulators, and electricity-sector specialists exploring U.S. approaches to energy policy, grid modernization, workforce development, and public-private collaboration.
Participants visited New Century Careers to learn how workforce development programs prepare individuals for careers in advanced manufacturing and energy-related industries. They also met with the Marcellus Shale Coalition to discuss natural gas production, regulation, supply chains, and the role of the energy sector in regional economic development. Delegates later joined industry and community leaders at Energy Night at EQT Park for additional networking and exchange.
At Pittsburgh International Airport, the delegation toured the airport’s microgrid and explored how solar power, natural gas generation, battery storage, and resilient infrastructure can support energy independence and reliability. The group also met with the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering and Energy GRID Institute to discuss grid modernization, electrification, energy storage, advanced materials, and collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
The program concluded with home hospitality hosted by GlobalPittsburgh volunteers, combining professional exchange with cultural connection and relationship-building between energy leaders in Honduras and the Pittsburgh region.
