IVLP: U.S.-European Energy Challenges: Advancing Climate Change Mitigation While Maintaining Energy Security

March 23-27, GlobalPittsburgh hosted eight government officials, political leaders, scientists, academics, NGO leaders, and journalists involved in developing, influencing, implementing, and reporting on energy innovation, security, and policy from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Spain, and Sweden, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) project "U.S.-European Energy Challenges: Advancing Climate Change Mitigation While Maintaining Energy Security."

Pittsburgh project themes include regional planning for conversion from fossil fuels to renewable energy; technologies for achieving decarbonization; and natural gas.

Great discussions took place with Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Climate and Energy Decision Making (cedmcenter.org/), and Marcellus Shale Coalition, Carnegie Mellon University Wilton E. Scott Energy Institute, and Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
