GlobalPittsburgh was proud to host a delegation from France for a week-long exchange focused on U.S. energy policy, innovation, and sustainability. During their visit, participants met with the Pittsburgh International Airport team to explore the nation’s first airport-powered microgrid, engaged with Optimus Technologies on biodiesel solutions for heavy-duty fleets, and connected with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to discuss regional engineering and environmental initiatives. The program continued with in-depth sessions at Carnegie Mellon University’s Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, the University of Pittsburgh’s Cyber Energy Center, and the Center for Sustainable Landscapes at Phipps Conservatory. Delegates also visited the Sanchez Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh to examine sustainable engineering and water-energy research, and concluded their Pittsburgh meetings with the Marcellus Shale Coalition for a discussion on natural gas policy and its national impact. This project was part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with support from Meridian International Center.
