GlobalPittsburgh hosted a delegation through the Open World Program focused on strengthening local governance from October 17–25, 2025. Delegates explored best practices in civic leadership, public policy, and sustainable urban development through meetings with city officials, judicial representatives, and nonprofit organizations across the Pittsburgh region.

Participants met with leaders from the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Sustainable Pittsburgh, Neighborhood Legal Services, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. They also engaged with local experts on transparency, ethical governance, citizen trust, and community development, gaining insight into strategies for inclusive, accountable, and effective public administration.

Delegates visited cultural and historical sites including the Cathedral of Learning’s Nationality Rooms, the Allegheny County Jail Museum, and the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History. They participated in civic, cultural, and recreational activities such as a Gateway Clipper sightseeing cruise, a Monongahela Incline ride, and an NHL Penguins game.

Throughout the program, delegates stayed with host families, experiencing local life and culture, fostering personal connections, and sharing their own perspectives on governance and civic engagement. The program concluded with a closing ceremony and dinner at COhatch Waterfront, capping a week of professional exchange, networking, and cultural immersion in Pittsburgh.
