GlobalPittsburgh had the privilege of hosting five distinguished fellows from the Uzbekistan Business Leaders (UBL) program, a U.S. Department of State professional exchange for emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders from Uzbekistan. During their three-week fellowships, the fellows worked with local organizations, gaining hands-on experience and sharing insights in areas such as business management, social entrepreneurship, start-up development, marketing, and innovation.
The UBL program fosters long-term partnerships between U.S. and Uzbek businesses, strengthens participants’ understanding of business policies and practices in both countries, and provides invaluable international exposure to U.S. organizations. Each fellow, with over five years of professional experience and fluent in English, made meaningful contributions to their host organizations while further developing their leadership skills. They were hosted by University of Pittsburgh, Center for Sustainable Business, Mayfly Market/Gilligan's Sorbet, Literacy Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, and Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown.
