GlobalPittsburgh had the honor of hosting the opening program for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP). YSEALI PFP, a U.S. Department of State exchange supported by American Councils for International Education, brings mid-level professionals (ages 25–35) from Southeast Asia to the United States for four-week fellowships designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership skills, and foster sustainable professional partnerships.

Selected through a highly competitive merit-based process, YSEALI PFP fellows represent a range of sectors, including government, NGOs, private business, social innovation, entrepreneurship, and higher education. During their placements, fellows are matched with U.S. organizations aligned with their professional experience and interests, gaining direct exposure to the day-to-day operations of American workplaces while contributing meaningfully to substantive projects.
